The LearnSmart Story
McGraw-Hill Higher Education has long been a leader in developing innovative learning solutions. Back in 2007, after dialogues with health care instructors, we discovered the need for a resource that would help students master core concepts in a quick and efficient way, while letting patient care professors focus on teaching higher level, more conceptual content.
Recognizing that the potential of the tool would benefit not only those in healthcare courses, but students and faculty everywhere, we got to work. Soon, along with our partner area9, McGraw-Hill created the only adaptive learning product that is both proven effective and available across disciplines: McGraw-Hill LearnSmart.
How It Works
LearnSmart helps students succeed by providing a personalized learning path that’s based on responses to questions (right or wrong), as well as how confident they feel about the answers they provide. The program also encourages the retention of the material by identifying concepts that students are likely to forget, and directing them back to portions of the e-book to help them solidify concepts.
Up for some friendly competition? As students answer questions, they’re given a score that lets them know where they stand as compared to the rest of their class, and the country at large. In tandem with LearnSmart’s engaging content, it creates an atmosphere that’s optimized for learning and retention.
